The Michigan State Bar recently published a list of changes to state rules, including Rule 2.107. A-F are unchanged, however, (G) goes into length about electronic service. Here it is in whole: (G) Notwithstanding any other provision of this rule, until further order of the Court, all service of process except for case initiating must be preformed using electronic means (e-filing where available, email, or fax, where available) to the greatest extent possible. Email transmission does not require agreement by the other party(s) but should otherwise comply as much as possible with the provisions of subsection (C)(4).

Chief Judge Timothy M. Kenny of the Third Circuit Court is convening a meeting to discuss the Court’s ability to manage operations during the pandemic and also identify potential permanent changes that might improve court processes. On September 7, 2021, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., the Detroit Bar Association is inviting its member and all other members of the legal community to attend and provide feedback on the operations of the Civil Division of the Third Circuit Court. This meeting is being convened pursuant to Michigan Court Rules 8.110(3)(c)(i). Third Circuit Court will summarize the discussion and forward proposed recommendations to the State Court Administrative Office.
